Description: Confused about the various units used to calculate bandwidth, and their equivalent in another unit? Use this bandwidth calculator to instantly figure it out! Just enter a number, select the unit of input, and this script shows its equivalent in the four standard units of bandwidth (Bytes, Kilobytes, Megabytes, and Gigabytes). Very handy script.
Byte:
A set of Bits that represent a single character. Usually there are
8 Bits in a Byte,
sometimes more, depending on how the measurement
is being made.
KB
= Kilobyte
A thousand bytes. Actually, usually 1024 (210) bytes.
MB
= Megabyte
A million bytes. Actually, technically, 1024 kilobytes.
GB = Gigabyte (Gigs)
1000 or 1024
Megabytes, depending on who is measuring.

KB
- MB - GB
1 KB (kilobyte) = 1,024 bytes
1 MB (mebibyte)
= 1,048,576 bytes
1 GB (gigabyte) = 1,024 megabytes = 1,073,741,824
bytes

Examples
and comparisons with SI prefixes
one kibibit (kilobyte) 1
Kibit = 210 bit = 1024 bit (one kilobit 1 kbit = 103 bit = 1000 bit)
one
mebibyte 1 MiB = 220 B = 1 048 576 B (one megabyte 1 MB = 106 B
= 1 000 000 B)
one gibibyte 1 GiB = 230 B = 1 073 741 824 B
(one gigabyte 1 GB = 109 B = 1 000 000 000 B)
